…this morning. Conclusion: I suck.
Was up this morning at 5:30 and all I could think about was putting modal scales together while improvising over a standard 2-5-1 progression. I’ve literally lived inside the Pentatonic box my entire guitar life and I stayed in it. But it finally snapped in my head…DUH, dude, i’ve totally missed this theory part. I had to get up and get a least an hour of practice in. Now I can’t wait to get home and burn it again.
Anyways, study your modal scales up and down, change keys. I’ve been strengthening my finger independence by switching from middle finger to ring finger every other run. Alternate pick everything.
Oh before you judge me, i’ve never had a lesson in my life until now. I learned on the streets, the old fashioned way and i’ve played hundreds of gigs in my life. Been there, seen that. I had no problem forgetting everything I thought I knew, and opened myself up to learn from scratch and become a true, well trained guitarist.
Magic.
